Radical Candor

  1. You build better relationships at work by being candid.
  2. Care about people, be honest and direct
  3. Don’t let things slide. If they aren’t hearing it, push it.
  4. Adapt across borders. In Japan, be “resilient”.
  5. Radical Candor, not honesty, which implies you know the truth already.
  6. People have superstar periods, rockstar periods, etc. Their performance and growth isn’t fixed, it’ll change over time.
  7. As a manager, don’t change too much too fast. It is disorienting.
  8. Involve your team in the process of change.
  9. Solicit and reward candid feedback. 1-1s with people, walk around and think time.
