The customer service is great in Japan, and especially noticeable at lower cost places. Everyone is treated good. However, if you have a special need or case many times you will have a difficult time getting them to bend the rules.

I've lived in North Carolina, Texas and California and the customer service in places is ok but nowhere near as you described.
